Our Mission: Hairoun Netball Club is dedicated to the future of netball in Quebec. Our mission is to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and competitive netball community, ensuring the sport's growth and sustainability for years to come.
Humble Beginnings: From humble beginnings in the 1970s, Hairoun Netball was conceived as an association that housed many sports, including netball. As the first club to introduce netball to Quebec, Hairoun laid the foundation for the sport's growth and development in the region.
Establishing Our Identity: In 1989, Hairoun Netball was formally incorporated under the name Hairoun Sports Club. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of our journey as a dedicated organization committed to promoting netball within the community.
Achievements and Participation: Many of Hairoun's players have participated and continue to excel at the local, provincial, and international levels. Their achievements have brought recognition and pride to our club, showcasing the talent and dedication nurtured within Hairoun.
Pioneering Male Participation: Hairoun was the first team in Quebec to train male netball players. Former club manager Noreen McNeal played a crucial role in bringing men together to form the Hairoun men's netball team. Additionally, the contributions of former club president Jean Cambridge are celebrated annually through an invitational netball tournament and a recognition award named in her honor.
Continuing the Legacy: After almost three decades, Hairoun has continued to uphold its legacy. We remain more relevant than ever, accessible to future generations of netballers. Hairoun has managed to retain established players while continually renewing itself by attracting new and exciting talent.
An Integral Part of the Community: Hairoun Netball Club is an integral part of the netball community. In this era of netball in Quebec, Hairoun aims to attract spectators and players alike, welcoming youth, adults, and people of all backgrounds and genders.
